Scarlett Johansson says married life is a "very beautiful time" for her

Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has broken her silence about her married life, saying "this is a very beautiful time for me."

The 'The Black Dahlia' actress, who married Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds in September this year, revealed after getting married, the couple is gradually evolving together.

"This is a very beautiful time for me. Getting married is a huge moment in anyone's life, and the few months leading up to it were a little crazy," Us Weekly quoted Johansson, as saying.

"But Ryan and I are in love, and we're enjoying evolving our relationship together. I feel that my life and my work are heading in the right direction," she added.

Johansson, who has dated Jared Leto and Josh Harnett, admitted that before meeting Reynolds she was "in situations where a guy hasn't been into me".

"It's either they don't want to commit or put in the effort, or they're too involved in their own thing, you don't always meet the right person at the right time, and I think it's important for people to figure out their own lives before involving someone else - to gauge where you are and work on your own issues," Johansson said.

"Reynolds has a very romantic side. We both enjoy remembering little things that made us happy - for me, that's what romance is all about," she added.

Scarlett Johansson goes brunette

Scarlett Johansson has ditched her signature platinum locks, and dyed her hair brunette.

Appearing at a photo call for new movie The Spirit, the newly-wed showed off her latest look, and seemed to have had a style makeover as well.

Always one for a figure-hugging frock, the actress instead donned an understated baggy jacket, black trousers and some classic courts.

Instantly sparking rumours that she might be pregnant, her rep quickly put an end to speculation telling E! News, 'She is not pregnant.'

Scarlett married actor Ryan Reynolds in September, in an intimate ceremony for just 40 guests. Sources have claimed that the 23-year-old actress is keen to be a young mum, and is eager to start a family with her new husband as soon as possible.

Scarlett Johansson speaks of Lindsay Lohan's insults

SCARLETT Johansson has finally broken her silence over the claims that rival actress and wildchild Lindsay Lohan called her "ugly" and "fat", amongst other taunts.
The American National Enquirer claims that after Lohan called Johansson “ugly” and “fat,” she didn’t stop there – labelling Jessica Simpson “dumb”, Keira Knightley “flat” and “a cardboard cut-out” and Sienna Miller a “no-talent crackhead”.

Lohan also modestly followed up by loudly proclaiming about her own talents that she was the “best actress in the world”

Celebitchy report that Lohan actually went further and scrawled an obscenity about Johansson on the wall of a club toilet - a word we can't print here.

A shocked Scarlett Johansson has now told December's Allure she doesn't know why Lindsay Lohan doesn't like her.

"I really don’t know that person. I only met her, like, three times," says the actress, 23, who lost the lead role in The Parent Trap to Lohan when she was 13, US Weekly report.

Lohan famously scrawled vulgar words about the actress on a Big Apple bathroom stall 2½ years ago.

"That's what I heard," Johansson says of the incident.

"I don’t know what the motivation was behind that. I remember it was something really vulgar — I mean, shockingly so, like, 'Whoa, what, who are you?'"

Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds planning second wedding?

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are reportedly planning a wedding celebration for the friends and family who couldn’t attend their September nuptials.

The couple married in front of less than 40 guests in a wilderness resort in Vancouver, Canada six weeks ago - but wanted more people to join them for the happy occasion.

Now a source has told OK magazine that the couple are exploring the options for a second ceremony - a blessing - followed by a party: “Scarlett wants something simple and classic. They’ve agreed on 150 guests.”

Marriage Looks Good on ScarJo and Ryan

Although we have yet to see any pics from Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds' wilderness wedding (or read cover stories about how blissfully happy married life is), the pictures from their first public appearance together since tying the knot speak for themselves.

When they hit Michael J. Fox's Parkinsons' benefit last night in NYC, the über-private duo made sure not to pose for any pics together. But both seem to be glowing and looked more gorgeous than ever in their solo shots.

Is Ryan still on a high from completing his first marathon? Is ScarJo super stoked that her faux fiancé Barack Obama won the presidency? Or are these two lovebirds just basking in their post-nuptial glow?

In any case, married life looks good on these two.

Collecting with the stars: celeb trading cards

LOS ANGELES (AP) — These days, most celebrities trade on their fame for fashion lines, fragrances, reality shows and blogs. Now, some 40 famous folks — from Scarlett Johansson to Jared Leto — will be able to trade their fame with each other.

A new line of celebrity trading cards — yes, the little cardboard ones baseball fans used to hoard — officially sanctioned by the stars themselves is being launched by entertainment product company A-List Global Media.

Called PopCardz, the celebrity trading card line is the brainchild of Ted Kurie and Christian Troy, who once represented A-listers as an agent at Creative Artists Agency. To personally acquire celebrities' permission for the cards, Troy dug deep into his CAA contacts.

"I started going around town to agents, managers, publicists and lawyers that I knew in these artists' lives," said Troy. "I pitched it as a simple and great idea, using these movie and TV stars' likeness to reach a young demographic in a really special way. We were really looking for artists who were credible and popular — but not because of scandal."

So don't except Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears cards this go 'round.

The star power in the celebrity trading card collection is sprinkled with tween powerhouses (Cole and Dylan Sprouse, Ashley Tisdale, Raven-Symone), starlets (Megan Fox, Jessica Biel, Hayden Panettiere, Jessica Alba, Christina Ricci) and a few leading men (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Anton Yelchin, Giovanni Ribisi, Chris Evans).

PopCardz will be sold in stores in five-card packs beginning in November. Proceeds will given to the celebrities' charities. Each card will have a unique 10-digit access code printed on it that will provide additional online content at PopCardz.com.

The back of the cards list celebrities' birth dates, hometowns and mottos as well as a favorite charity, movie, song, book, place, sport, food — and a secret. "Kath & Kim" actress Selma Blair revealed, for instance, that she wore an eye patch for a year when she was 7 because she was embarrassed about her amblyopia — lazy eye syndrome.

"Tabloids are so prevalent," said Blair. "I think this is way for kids — or whoever is collecting them — to find something out about their favorite celebrities, and find out really positive things about them."

Blair, who accumulated "Wacky Packages" and "Superman" trading cards growing up, was one of the first celebrities to agree to be immortalized in the collection. The "Hellboy" and "Cruel Intentions" actress said she was excited the cards would benefit and prominently feature celebrities' causes.

"It's a benevolent, cool thing," said Blair.

Her only concern? How her card will fare among traders once it's released.

"I'm sure everyone will be like, 'I'll give you 20 Selma Blairs for 1 Scarlett Johansson,'" Blair joked.

Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds marry in Canada

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds did a little rushing into it after all. The couple married this weekend, according to publicist Meredith O'Sullivan. She did not provide details.

Us Weekly reported on its Web site Sunday that the small wedding took place at a resort outside Vancouver, British Columbia. Guests included Scarlett's mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson, the magazine said.

The couple announced their engagement in May.

"We're just enjoying our time," the actress said last month. "We're just recently — very recently — engaged. So, you know, we're just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it's a good time and we're just ... enjoying our time to be young and engaged.

"I mean, I'm 23. There's no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed."

Johansson most recently starred in the Woody Allen film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." Reynolds starred on the TV show "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" and the romantic comedy "Definitely, Maybe."

Duff: A beginner's guide to hating actress Scarlett Johansson

Most geeks cannot imagine hating Scarlett Johansson. To most geeks the concept is absurd, unthinkable - like making a Star Wars movie without CGI or eating a pizza with vegetables on it. But geeks are quirky, contrary creatures. They love hating things that everybody else loves, and there is no hatred quite like the hatred of a film geek. To back up this assertion, I direct you to a brilliant piece of digital brutality written by Alex Carnevale.

At first, I couldn't believe it. I was so bewildered by Alex's post, I misreported his gender in my first draft, assuming that any writer who hated Scarlett Johansson (affectionately abbreviated "ScarJo") had to be female.
Hating Scarlett Johansson, it's like hating sunshine or rainbows or ponies. But here he was, Alex Carnevale, drinking the blood of unicorns and enjoying a big fat pony sandwich. He comes out swinging in the first paragraph, calling the engagement of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds, a "walking thesis against the existence of white people."

Alex goes on for a bit and stumbles into the most brilliant political thesis I've read this year. Alex identifies what I'll call "The Blonde Vote" - the army of cute blonde girls who are going to walk up and tell you to vote for Obama this year.
"These young people will not necessarily have been interested in politics before," Alex says, "but they will be utterly convinced of one thing: Barack Obama is the man to lead our country." you know that Obama once saved 16 Venezuelan children?" they'll say. "And he smokes cigarettes just like us!" Whatever you think of Obama, please do not underestimate the power of blondes. That may be the source of all this ScarJo outrage - a grass-roots rebellion against the blonde power structure.

This isn't the first time I've crossed swords with film geeks over the issue of Scarlett Johansson. Two years ago I wrote a negative review of the movie "Lost in Translation" and was described as "crude and reactionary" - a description so perfect it should be my mission statement.
Everybody I knew described this as a great movie, but I just didn't get it - Bill Murray and ScarJo bumming around a Japanese hotel for two hours - a world full of smug, disaffected yuppies, sneering at everything and whining about loveless marriage.

The backlash from my friends was so bad, I bought a DVD and watched it 12 times, convinced that this was a great movie that I just wasn't smart enough to understand. I watched it so much I made myself like it, kind of like G. Gordon Liddy training himself to eat rats.
By the end of the weekend I was so confused I couldn't even tell the difference between love and hate anymore. I was rescued by my friend Cynthia Rockwell who rose above the debate and taught me the real truth about film geeks. First, if your review is smart enough, you're allowed to love things and hate them at the same time. And second, being a geek means never having to say you're sorry.

Cynthia has her own reasons for hating Scarlett Johansson, and the characters she represents: "'I'm a rich, bored princess who doesn't have anyone treating me like a magical enigma anymore. I'm so sad. I want daddy.' Women are not magic, not enigmas. Magic and mystery can't be sustained in a human being, and the stereotype keeps men wanting the ephemeral, the thing that does not exist."

Johansson: 'Monogamy is hard'

Scarlett Johansson is convinced her relationship with fiance Ryan Reynolds will last, because they are among the few humans who can be monogamous. The actress claims remaining faithful to one partner is "hard work" and not natural. She tells the latest issue of 'Cosmopolitan' magazine: "I don't think it's a natural instinct for human beings.

"Monogamy can be hard work for some people. I don't think it applies to everybody, and I don't think a lot of people can do it."
But Johansson insists she is among those who can resist the temptation to cheat: "I believe in finding a soul mate. I've always been in monogamous relationships. I would never want to be in an open one. It'd be too awful."

Reynolds and Johansson announced their engagement in May.
The actress previously dated Josh Hartnett and Jared Leto.

Scarlett: Call me sane before sexy

There's no doubt that Scarlett Johansson is sexy – but she'd much prefer it if people thought she was sane.

Explaining her routine before going out, the 23-year-old told Cosmopolitan: 'I don't normally think about being sexy. I think, “Do I look presentable?” [and] “'Do I look sane?”'

Don't worry, Scarlett, you're plenty sane (and sexy) enough for us...

Michelle Obama Nixes Scarlett Johansson Friendship for Barack

Michelle Obama Nixes Scarlett Johansson Friendship for Barack As American waits to crown Barack Obama king and president in November many believed that Scarlett Johansson was all set to move into that whole Marilyn Monroe role for the next president. The buzz began when Politico.Com reported that Obama and Scar Jo were burning up bandwidth e-mailing and texting each other while he was on the road campaigning. So what does wife Michelle Obama have to say? She said it was the first time in her adult life…actually according to a report from gossip Mike Walker of the Enquirer she has nixed any "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" serenade for Obama if he does make it to the White House.

According to the report, "Obama's strong-willed wife Michelle has already poured water on a budding friendship between the presidential candidate and gorgeous actress Scarlett Johansson." Walker cites "sources" for the details of the report. Why didn't they just aske her this on "The View"?
Walker claims that when reports surfaced that Scarlett and the senator were exchanging e-mails, Obama's wife sprang into action to find out what was going on between them, divulged a campaign source. The 23 year old "Lost in Translation" star, who also fancies herself something of a singer, revealed in mid-June that she had swapped friendly e-mails with Obama for months.

Scarlett Johansson’s New Digs

It's still technically speculation, but the Observer reports that recently -engaged Tom Waits superfan Scarlett Johansson may have purchased a $2.1 million penthouse on New York's East 53rd Street. The apartment features a landscaped wraparound, terrace, wine cooler in the kitchen, and greenhouse attached to the bedroom -- perfect for cultivating the garden of her young love. It's a step up from her last place on Leonard Street, where she lost $52 K on the sale; but this year, she'll be starring in her third movie as the "muse" of Woody Allen, so, you know, she's got a little money coming in. And now she'll have lots of extra time to play house, since the alleged stage-fright-sufferer has decided not to tour in support of her Waits cover album, Anywhere I Lay My Head.

Johansson eyes music festival debut

Scarlett Johansson would love to display her vocal talents at a music festival - if only she could combat her stage fright. The actress released her debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head this week - and is so pleased with the disc of Tom Waits covers, she wants the chance to play them live. But she'd have to conquer her stage fear first.

She says: "It would be sad to not get everybody (band members) together. Whether it's at a festival or somewhere that's kind of fun.
"(But) I have horrible stage fright, so it would have to be overcome. People approach me (about playing live) and my usual answer is, 'Ah, I'll think about that'. "When I do think about it, I start to get really sweaty and uncomfortable and itchy around the neck."

Scarlett Johansson acts pricey, misses Cannes premiere

New York, May 19 (IANS) Actress Scarlett Johansson, who is co-starring with Penelope Cruz in the new Woody Allen movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, did not attend the premiere at Cannes because she demanded too high an appearance fee. Johansson was supposedly demanding more than the studio was willing to spend. She didn’t want to stay at the same hotel as Cruz or share the same makeup artist. She insisted on her own makeup and hair people but that would have cost an extra $5,000 a day for her four-day stay, perezhilton.com reports.

Also, her decision to stay at a hotel some half-an-hour away would have created many delays in the film’s promotional schedule.
An executive connected with the film said: “While Woody’s terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn’t being a team player.”

Scarlett Johansson Covers Tom Waits And Alanis Morissette's Ex

If you've seen Lost In Translation, you might remember the scene in a karaoke bar where Scarlett Johansson croons The Pretenders' "Brass In Pocket." You'll soon be able to catch her singing someone else's songs again when she releases Anywhere I Lay My Head, an album featuring Tom Waits covers, on May 20 through Atco/Rhino Records.

The album contains 10 Waits covers and one Johansson original ("Song For Jo"). It was produced by TV On The Radio guitarist David Andrew Sitek (Foals, Liars). David Bowie makes guest appearances on "Falling Down" and "Fannin' Street." The disc also features Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and members of Baltimore, Md. indie rockers Celebration.
Johansson originally intended to cover standards from different artists, but later decided to only record songs by Waits. "His melodies are so beautiful and his voice is so distinct," she told Billboard.com. "I sent him some of the early, early recordings, and he said, 'Go ahead.'… I've heard he's very pleased."

Another young actress, Zooey Deschanel, recently cut a disc with indie folk star M. Ward as She & Him. The microphone stand-wielding Jared Leto is another recent actor/rock star example. Keanu Reeves and Russell Crowe also tried to make forays into the rock world with their respective bands, Dogstar and Thirty Odd Foot Of Grunts.
Going the other way, Johansson is rumoured to have just become engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds. He was previously engaged to Alanis Morissette — a singer, songwriter and musician who's tried her hand at acting.

Salman Rushdie kisses Scarlett Johansson in new music video

Sir Salman Rushdie has made a bizarre cameo appearance in a music video as the romantic interest of Scarlett Johansson, the Hollywood actress. The author of The Satanic Verses is seen nuzzling Miss Johansson’s neck and whispering in her ear, to her evident delight. Quite how the 60-year-old Sir Salman came to be involved in the musical career of movie starlet Miss Johansson, 23, remains a mystery. The four-minute video is for Falling Down, the new single from Miss Johansson’s forthcoming debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head.

The star of Lost In Translation and The Other Boleyn Girl has turned her hand to singing, and the album features covers of tracks by Tom Waits. David Bowie performs backing vocals. Reaction has been mixed, with some critics suggesting she stick to the day job. The video is conceived as a day in the life of the star, showing her in the make-up studio, in front of the cameras and meeting fans, before returning home. The brief scenes featuring Sir Salman carry no explanation.

Miss Johansson is currently dating young actor Ryan Reynolds, but in the past has expressed a preference for the older man, which could provide a clue to Sir Salman’s appearance. “I’ve always mixed with people older than me. I’m often told I appeal to older men more than guys my own age. I think that’s pretty cool. Older men understand women more. They usually have better taste. I take it as a compliment,” she has said. Sir Salman, meanwhile, appears to have little trouble attracting beautiful women.

His most recent wife was Padma Lakshmi, a statuesque model turned TV presenter 23 years his junior. She left him last year and they are currently divorcing.Miss Lakshmi was wife number four, but Sir Salman claimed this week that he does not believe in marriage.

“It’s strange, given that I’ve been married four times, but I actually don’t think marriage is necessary,” he tells next month’s Elle magazine. “Girls like it, especially if they’ve never been married before - it’s the dress. Girls want a wedding, they don’t want a marriage. If only you could have weddings without marriages.” The Booker Prize-winning author, knighted last year for services to literature, went into hiding in 1989 when the Ayatollah Khomeini issue a fatwa calling for his execution.

He returned to public life a decade later and is now a regular on the social scene. This is not his first unlikely cameo - he has appeared on stage with Bono, the singer from U2, and played himself in the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary.

Scarlett Johansson: My Low-Key Life

Scarlett Johansson has spoken out about Hollywood starlets attempting to parlay their fame into musical careers, describing her own musical offering as “low-key” and in no way related to the manufactured pop of her Hollywood bretheren.

"I have no relationship with either Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton, even as far as my lifestyle or the music I listen to,” she says.
“They probably made music that fits with their lifestyle - 'Wouldn't it be great if I were dancing to my own song in the club?' "

Johansson, 23, is confident that her album will be well-received, telling Spin magazine, "My album is more suited to my lifestyle. I live a very low-key life."

Love on the rocks for Scarlett, Ryan Reynolds?

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have been quietly dating for about a year, but reports of their relationship being on the outs are becoming more frequent.

According to the Australian press, “Scarlett and Ryan have hit a rough patch after he dared to broach the subject of marriage and kids. Scarlett is younger and has no desire for a husband or family just yet.”

Also, reports that Johansson moved into Reynolds’ Los Angeles home aren’t true either, according to sources. “Scarlett hasn't moved in full time. She has just moved in so when she stays over she has some belongings there. She is very much focused on her career and is filming three movies back-to-back this year.”

Scarlett Johansson spills boobs, viewer gets Trojan

We've all seen the emails throughout the years, but are people still falling for the age-old trick? According to PandaLabs, an international virus research network, its malware analysis and detection laboratory has found that a series of junk emails are promising erotic pictures of celebrities Scarlett Johansson, Shakira and Rihanna as bait to help spread the Agent.IMB Trojan.

The emails, said to carry subject titles such as "naked Shakira clip", "Rihanna exposed" and "Scarlett Johansson spills boobs", include a link which when clicked, downloads the Trojan to the users computer.

Panda Security states that although this method of virus-spreading is nothing new, it must be proving to remain highly effective as many cyber-crooks are still using the same traps to lure unsuspecting, and dare we say it, horny users.
Dominic Hoskins, Country Manager, Panda Security UK, said:

"Although malware dynamics have largely changed towards financial gain in recent months sensational headlines and pictures of celebrities are often used by malware creators to distribute malicious codes. This is a surprisingly effective technique especially when it comes to celebrity baits".

Kristin Davis is more popular than Scarlett Johansson. The star auctioned off the chance to meet her at the world premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie on eBay to raise money for charity.

The winning bid was a staggering $US52,100, and easily surpassed the $US42,000 Scarlett raised when she offered a similar experience earlier this month to meet her at the premiere of her latest movie He's Just Not That Into You.

Emotion axed

By Alan Little, Evening Gazette:FALLING victim to the same excesses as Elizabeth: The Golden Age, this is a beautifully dressed and staged costume drama that has pomp and pageantry in abundance but a paucity of deep emotion.

The central plot is tantalising - the rivalry between two sisters for the love of King Henry VIII - but screenwriter Peter Morgan fails to delve beneath the glossy surface of Philippa Gregory’s novel.

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson are cast effectively as the ambitious, ruthless vamp and the naive woman of virtue. As the narrative gathers pace, though, they have nowhere to go with their performances as Eric Bana’s dithering king waits for Jane Seymour to shoot him a come hither glance, and provide the drama with its unhappy ending.

The film sets out its stall as a frothy bodice ripper, including a snarling supporting turn from Morrissey as Norfolk, their power- crazed uncle, but becomes bogged down with historical detail and has to rush the climax when Anne pays an horrific price for her jealousy.

Portman fights valiantly with her accent as Anne repeatedly knifes her in the back and Johansson revisits her beatific, much abused heroine from Girl With A Pearl Earring. While Anne ultimately loses her head, we keep ours throughout Justin Chadwick’s film.

Birth Name
Scarlett Johansson

Birth Date

11/22/1984

New York, New York

Claim to Fame (or Shame)

It's good we have Scarlett, because gals need a reason to feel sexually inadequate. The girl who resuscitated Woody Allen's creative life in Match Point is sophisticated and hot. Lost in Translation and In Good Company wouldn't have clicked without her subtle charm. You won't find Scarlett (or her boyfriend, Josh Hartnett) dancing on tables at Hyde like some other young Hollywood denizens. Let's face it. Until she gets drunk in public and stars in Date Movie 4--yeah right--we just have to deal.

Notes

"I actually started acting because I wanted to be in musicals when I was a little girl. That's where my dream career was going to be when I was 8 years old, like the young Cosette in "Les Miserables." Then I started making films and I never ended up doing musical theater. Of course, by the time I turned 13, I kind of buried that part of myself."---Johansson to CNN.com, August 27, 2007.
"I can't stand those articles where people spill their life story. After a while I feel like I know more about them than their best friend does, and that's weird."---Scarlett Johansson, to InStyle magazine, October 2006.

"I don't plan on selling out. I mean, it's nice getting a dinner reservation ahead of other people, but when it comes down to it, the most important thing to me is the actual work."---Johansson to Movieline's Hollywood Life February 2004

"I feel so fortunate to be able to work with directors whose movies my mother waited on line for two hours to see. Here I am, 20 years old, getting to work with all these people who are an inspiration to my generation and the generation before."---Johansson quoted to Interview magazine, November 2005.

"Look, I'm the kind of person that doesn't put up with bullshit. Does that make me uncommonly mature? I don't know. I think you mature with experiences, and how other people view you and your maturity really depends upon when you have those experiences ... I think I was born with a great awareness of my surroundings and an awareness of other people. I know when I really connect with somebody and I know when I feel like I've known somebody before. And I absolutely know what it feels like to meet an old soul, to know an old soul. So for my mom and Bob Redford, two people I really respect, to say that about me, well, that's a huge compliment."

"Maybe years from now, when I'm having my midlife crisis and need to find myself, I'll search deep down inside and find that old soul of mine and dust it off. But for now I'm enjoying getting to know all about my young soul."---Scarlett Johansson on her perceived maturity to Interview, July 2001.

"People just don't type cast me," she says. "I've played so many different roles, from a high school student, to a wife, to a 17th-century Dutch maid, to trailer trash. For a while, I thought I might get typecast as the bitter, shitty teenager who's always sarcastic, but luckily that was a fear that was never a reality."---Johansson to Empire, March 2005.

"There's cute, there's pretty, there's hot and there's beautiful. Scarlett Johansson falls in the beautiful bracket."---Frankie Muniz quoted in People May 10, 2004

"Unfortunately, because it's adults writing these scripts, it's tough. The problem is that adults portray kids like mall-rats, and not seriously; after all, we're just like little adults and people with feelings too. Kids and teenagers just aren't being portrayed with any real depth."---Johansson on the teen actor's search for intelligent roles, to Andrew Urban at UrbanCinefile.com, July 1998.
Describing her desire for a show business career, a three-year old Johansson reportedly told her mother she "had a fire in [her] brain to act."
In 2007 Johansson was named Woman of the Year by Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
Johansson was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People for 2004
Tops FHM magazine's April 2006 list of the "100 Sexiest Women in the World"

Will.I.Am Gathers Common, Nick Cannon, Scarlett Johansson For Barack Obama Video

While Barack Obama barnstorms the country trying to drum up votes in advance of Super Tuesday, a wildly diverse cross section of musical supporters, including the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am, OK Go and former members of the Grateful Dead, are lending a hand.

One of the biggest Obama-boosting efforts comes courtesy of Will.I.Am, who recently teamed with director Jesse Dylan (son of Bob Dylan) to release a music video called "Yes We Can." The Bob Marley-like anthem turns the Illinois senator's January 8 New Hampshire primary-night address into lyrics performed by Will, as well as almost 40 other actors, celebrities and athletes, including John Legend, Kate Walsh, Aisha Tyler, Amber Valletta, Taryn Manning, Nicole Scherzinger, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and Nick Cannon.

The song was recorded less than a week ago in Los Angeles, and the "We Are the World"-style video features the stars reciting or singing along to the Obama speech on top of a stark black background, with intercut clips of the candidate delivering the address as Legend croons the refrain: "Yes we can!" Since it was posted on Friday, it has already garnered more than a million views on YouTube and 10 million on the host site, YesWeCanSong.com, according to a spokesperson for the project.

Explaining his inspiration for the song, Will wrote in an accompanying blog post on the site that he was in a recording studio watching one of the presidential debates and feeling torn between candidates when the idea struck him. "I was never really big on politics ... and actually, I'm still not big on politics," he wrote. But "the outcome of the last two elections has saddened me ... on how unfair, backwards, upside down, unbalanced, untruthful, corrupt and just simply, how wrong the world and politics are. ... So this year I wanted to get involved and do all I could, early."

But lacking a clear choice, as he suspected many people were, Will said he was ready to wait for a candidate to emerge as the (presumably Democratic) nominee without his help. "And then came New Hampshire ... and I was captivated ... inspired," he wrote. "I reflected on my life and the blessings I have and the people who fought for me to have these rights and blessings. And I'm not talking about a 'black thing,' I'm talking about a 'human thing.' Me as a 'person,' an American."
